Baan Tao Talay and Baan Samlarn is located on the West side of the Island within sight of the Raja Ferry Pier. The west coast of Samui is where most locals live and this means that the area around the villa is quiet, but also within easy reach of the busy tourist areas such as Chaweng and Lamai on the opposite side of the Island.

Ko Samui is all in all a fairly big island. The most popular and commercialised beaches are Chaweng and Lamai, while the northern beaches and their adjacent villages of Mae Nam, Bophut, Bang Rak (Big Buddha) and Choeng Mon are more peaceful choices, and the west coast beaches are still (comparatively) quiet.
Clockwise from Nathon on the west coast, the main beaches are:
- Nathon - Samui's port and administrative center, but with little to attract tourists
- Mae Nam - a quiet and beautiful beach on the northern coast
- Bophut - known for its Fisherman's Village, laid-back but growing fast
- Bang Rak - at the northeastern tip, home of the Big Buddha
- Choeng Mon - quiet North shore beach
- Chaweng - the largest and most-developed beach, with a curious mix of luxury hotels and backpacker guesthouses and a hopping nightlife
- Lamai - Samui's "second" beach south of Chaweng, more backpackery than Chaweng
- South Coast - the small beaches of Ban Hua Thanon, Na Khai, Laem Set, Bang Kao and Thong Krut

This is the perfect setting for any family or group of friends. The combination of privacy and diversity within the lodging makes for an unbeatable stay, topping anywhere across all the legendary islands that Thailand offers. In addition, fresh produce laid onto the tables everyday at request or by the chef's personal recommendations really make you feel like you would never want to leave, purely because of the food! The open plan style of the lodging complements the weather wonderfully with hot breezes flowing through the property. If you are not satisfied with the pool area, you can just step out onto the beach which is of a very high standard. Truly a must.

I absolutely loved my stay at Baantaotalay. The villa is located in the most stunning setting with pool, private white beach and an amazing view out to sea..what more could you ask for. The staff were so nice, helpful and did everything for us, from booking massages to providing delcious cocktails for us every night. The food was scrumptious and you could have anything you wanted from the strongest curry to spag bol! What a great holiday it was, would defintely go back.
What a place. We had the best time over new year. The house was comfortable and well designed, the beach perfect for swimming, walking and relaxing (in the bunker !!) and above all Joy and team were the best hosts. Baantaotalay is a great spot - i would recommend it to ANYONE. Thinking about it now whilst sitting at my desk in dreary old London is almost enough to make me consider quitting my job and jumping on a plane to Thailand....its that good.
The beautiful villa and stunning setting makes Baan Tao Talay the perfect getaway for holiday with friends. We were looked after beautifully and the food was simply delicious. New year 2010 will definately not be forgotten and i hope i will be returning very soon!
BB is Paradise. The service is better than the Four Seasons, the food is better than anything I have ever had and the godess from above 'Joy' makes the whole holiday totally perfect. Spend some time in the Bunker watching the sunset, drink rum punches, light the lanterns, watch the fireworks and head to the 5 Islands for Lunch. Have never been somewhere so special and comfortable as this - Jo and David Forbes have impeccable taste and style.
What a wonderful villa - beautifully done up, could not have been more perfect. Joy and her team made our stay so relaxing and nothing was too much trouble. It was complete luxury and an ideal way to see in the New Year. Wishing I could be back there right now tucking into a delicious rum cocktail!

We have just spent a week in this house, having been to Phuket which was also wonderful, but this is absolute heaven. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, delicious food and the most perfect setting. The house also provided a boat which took us to the most amazing deserted islands with beautiful beaches. We are definitely coming back!

There is no point going to an Aman as this is much better !
This place is a gem. Jo and David's attention to detail is way out of the ordinary. Beautifully decorated coupled with supreme comfort.The staff and cuisine are faultless. It has the ultimate accessory, a white sandy beach with turquoise sea at the end of the garden.

I took the house for 11 perfect days in May and we had the most idyllic time imaginable. This really is a stunning house - wonderfully indulgent in its comfort and luxury and yet immaculately tasteful at the same time. The setting on the beach is fabulous, where we took in the sunsets every night with mojitos in hand!
Perhaps the best thing are the wonderful staff - always charming and smiling, they made sure our glasses were full all day long (whether in the pool, on the beach or watching films!) and spoiled us with delicious authentic thai food all week.
All in all a perfect holiday, and I will definitely be coming back!
You will be hard pushed to find a more beautiful and relaxing hide-away anywhere in the world. Baan Tao Talay epitomises the word luxury. Amazingly comfortable, unforgettable food and 7 Star service. I have just come back from an 11 day holiday and am getting withdrawal symptoms already. If you have the chance to go to this little pocket of heaven and you don’t go, you are a fool!
Baan Tao Talay well caters for all ages, events and interests and I cannot recommend a stay at this luxurious, beautiful house highly enough. I thoroughly enjoyed my trip and there are simply too many positive elements to list in this tiny box!

Baan Tao Talay simply knocks the spots off almost anywhere we have ever visited. Joy, Dao, Mai and Oi made our honeymoon incredibly special... rose petals in the bath-tub, 'shrimp look like bird' and flawless service. Every meal was unforgettable, the beach, which we had all to ourselves, was almost cliched it was so gorgeous and the villa had such character. Very tough to leave!
